have you ever known this saying "born in yemen, grew in iraq, dies in egypt"? if you are arab or know well about arab tradition i am sure you ever know it. yes, it tell about arab music. many people of arab sing and dance, but not arab music anymore.
for traditional arab music, they like music from yemen, because arab music came from yemen. it has special sense to hear. they music form yeme spead over arab world especially iraq, where arab muslim kingdom ever had big influnces in the globe. then it moved to egypt, as one of the internationaliezd arab country. unfortunately modern arab music from egypt (and lebanon of course) are not too arab, but too western. too much western influences so the arab is the word only, no arab content anymore.
i know some egypt and lebanon singer are like amr diab, elissa, nancy agram, nawal zoghby, ehab taufiq. but the msuic is not arab anymore, and the word is not in standard arab.
elder is better
